BRAZILIAN MMA FIGHTER CRIS “CYBORG” CLEARS THE AIR ABOUT HER PAST AND FUTURE IN FIGHTING.

Champion Mixed Martial Artist Cris Cyborg on Fighting Like a Girl

Cris Cyborg, a Mixed Martial Artist champion from Brazil, is one tough cookie. She is regarded as one of the top female athletes in mixed martial arts. However, she has never been able to shake the shadow of her 2011 positive test for steroids. That announcement would compromise her title and eventually her career. Though she has tested negative ever since, Cyborg continues to find herself vilified by the media and her peers. This has been one of the main issues compromising a much anticipated fight with superstar M.M.A champion Ronda Rousey. Though performance-enhancing drugs plague the fighting realm, female athletes have found it increasingly difficult to rise beyond the same mistakes made by their male counterparts. In this episode of Broadly Meets, fighter and host, Jill Morley, talks with Cyborg about mentorship, steroids, and archenemy, Ronda Rousey.
