MMA Fighter Pleads with Ref to Acknowledge His Opponent Is KO'd at Bellator 136

Chad George is a solid dude and he did something truly admirable during his fight with Mark Vorgeas at Bellator 136. He had all but secured a victory against his opponent when something weird happend  after locking in a Von Flue choke with around a minute and a half remaining in the first round.  That’s when George found himself in a tricky situation. He believed he had successfully choked out Vorgeas, which should have given him the victory. The match, however, does not stop until the referee signals as such. In this case, the ref believed Vorgeas was still conscious.  Rather than continue to choke an unconscious fighter, George let up and motioned to the ref that he had finished his opponent. Near the end of the video, you can hear: George: “He’s out!” Ref: “No he’s not. No he’s not.” George: “Yes he is! Yes he is! He’s out!”  It was not until after looking down and analyzing the clearly KO’d fighter that the fight was officially called. This could have been a really bad and life threatening situation for Mark Vorgeas, lucky enough for him his opponent was a true warrior. That ref could have cost a man his life in there.
