These “Slaughterbots” Are Fictional – For Now

This viral clip has quickly gained over a million views because “it shows the results of integrating and miniaturized technology we already have,”. Boy does it look frightening.

UC Berkeley computer science professor Stuart Russell in a presentation released by the Future of Life Institute — which is backed by Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk — painted the picture of a not-so-distant future filled with tiny autonomous drones, Mercury News reported.

The 7:45-minute fictional clip, called “Slaughterbots” takes viewers to a hypothetical conference where the speaker tosses one of the small drones out into the audience. It quickly turns around and launches itself into the forehead of a dummy, leaving a bullet-sized hole in its wake.

But things then take a quick turn for the worse in the fictional clip. Hit play up above to watch it play out.
