AWESOME FLYING REAR NAKED CHOKE

In my humble opinion there is no better finishing move than a rear naked choke! For the uninformed a Rear naked choke (RNC) is a chokehold in martial arts applied from an opponent’s back. The technique is one of my favorite and is applied simply but with devastating results. The steps are pretty easy to implement ( don’t try this without proper supervised instruction):

  1. The attacker’s left arm encircles the opponent’s neck, with the opponent’s trachea at the crook of the elbow.
  2. The attacker’s left hand then grasps his own upper right arm [biceps].
  3. The right hand is placed behind (or occasionally on top of) the opponent’s head. A more effective form of the choke can be applied by placing the palm of the hand against the attackers own shoulder rather than behind the opponents head. This greatly reduces the escape possibilities.
  4. The elbows are then brought together such that lateral pressure, from the biceps and radius bone, is applied to the neck on both sides.

When applied properly unconsciousness occurs in less than 10 seconds and recovery from the choke is just as quick if released in time.

It was one of the first chokes I was caught in when I first started submission grappling and boy was I scared sh*tless.  I immediatly knew how potent the move was and added it to my repertoire but this is the first time I have ever seen a flying rear naked choke and it’s AWESOME!
