There was a time in my life when I used to go to the movies by my lonesome. I just liked getting lost in the story and characters. Now, I’m not any weirdo who wears a trench coat every day ( although trench coats are awesome). I consider myself a regular dude who happens to do irregular sh*t every now and again. Anyway, as I was reminiscing about my movie phase, I started to think about movies that are on my – “every dude should see this list”. Now this is not an all inclusive list so please email me your top 6- 10 movies (firstname.lastname@example.org) that are a must for every dude. I also should stress that since i’m not a theater or cinema major ( <-is that a thing) I know I left out some great classics. Now that I think about it, sh*t I’m missing some Tarantino that I love but there is no time to backtrack. I have to get this post done and I’m too drunk to turn back now. Here are the 6 movies I compiled and feel that all my Thrill Blender brethren should watch. These movies are more than meets the eye for my popcorn lovers. So let’s get started:
1 – HITCH:
Hitch (Will Smith), New York City’s greatest matchmaker. Love is his job and he’ll get you the girl of your dreams in just three easy dates, guaranteed! And that’s exactly what happens when Albert Brennaman (TV’s Kevin James, “The King of Queens”) wins the heart of gorgeous society heiress Allegra Cole (supermodel Amber Valletta). -Synopsis
I watched this movie for a summer straight everyday. I know that sounds weird but I also got laid more than about 75% of the population in that same summer. I’m certain that doesn’t sound politically correct but it’s true. Here is the quick story; this girl broke up with me right before this movie came out after 3 loooong years. So I watched this movie and adopted the characteristics of “Hitch” ( Mr. Smith). Confidence, charm, and a disregard for giving a fu*k about the normal rules. I fully prescribed to the mindstate of “What if fine isn’t good enough? What if I want extraordinary?”. It worked for me and I think if you watch it and want to get the girl, you will grab some cool tidbits of information. I don’t recommend you watch it 8 million times like I did. I was probably clinically depressed and you just might lose your mind.
Facing unemployment and his girlfriend’s rejection, writer Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) is sure that he has no future. That all changes when an old friend gives him a drug that produces enhanced mental acuity. Stoked on the untested chemical, Eddie rises to the top of the financial world and attracts the attention of a tycoon (Robert De Niro) who intends to use him to make a fortune. But terrible side-effects and a dwindling supply threaten to collapse Eddie’s house of cards. – synopsis
BEFORE THE SMART PILL:
AFTER THE SMART PILL:
Take away the special drug from the plot line and you have some serious jewels on how to live your life. Stay focused, stay clean, push yourself. I’m not going to try and break it all down for you but this movie should be on your list as mandatory watching . Check out menprovement who did a much better job than I could of giving you 10 reasons you should watch limitless. Just know that it’s a must see movie.
King Leonidas and a force of 300 men fight the Persians at Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. Persian King Xerxes lead a Army of well over 100,000 men to Greece and was confronted by 300 Spartans, and several hundred Arcadians. Xerxes waited for 10 days for King Leonidas to surrender or withdraw, left with no options he moved forward to fight. The battle lasted for about 3 days and after which all 300 Spartans were killed. – Synopsis
This one right here is for my warriors or those who want to be warriors. This movie is about heart, strength, and standing up against insurmountable odds. I couldn’t do this movie any justice if I tried because I’m not a movie critic. Just know that you can watch this before any sporting event, fight, or other dangerous life altering event and you will go into battle screaming SPARTAAAAAAAAAA!
4- Book Of Eli:
A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. – synopsis
This is about faith. Plain and simple. Not faith without morals. Faith ( no matter what you believe in) with morals, empathy, and righteousness. This movie comes with a awesome twist at the end and it’s a definite must see.
5- The Wolf of Wall Street:
5 & 6 respectively are just some crazy, fun, and fuc*ked up movies that most dudes should see because of the excitement and lessons buried underneath the glamour. The only thing you should take from these two movies are – DON’T follow suit:
Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stock-broker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government. -synopsis
What can I say but debauchery, debauchery, and more debauchery BUT there is some truth mixed in..
Let me tell you something. There’s no nobility in poverty. I’ve been a poor man, and I’ve been a rich man. And I choose rich every fucking time.
The story of George Jung, the man who established the American cocaine market in the 1970s. It is based on the real life stories of George Jung, Pablo Escobar, Carlos Lehder Rivas (portrayed in the film as Diego Delgado), and the Medellín Cartel. The film’s title comes from a slang term for cocaine. -synopsis
Just understand, everything that glitters isn’t gold. This movie showcases the truth about what happens when you sacrifice what you love in order to gain material things illegally. It’s just not worth it, but if you don’t get the point then this movie will illustrate the pitfalls perfectly for you.
Bottom line is that you ( If you’re a man) should have seen all of these movies for one reason or another. If not then get to netflix or blockbuster.. wait…hold on.. blockbuster no longer exists – f**k I have to get out more often. If there is a movie that you believe is a must see then let me know in the comments or email me. I always need something new to rev me up.
