Akon Is Providing Solar Lighting In Africa for 600m People
If you are talking about giving back or a random act of kindness (maybe not so random), then you have to mention Akon. Akon has transitioned from an award-winning R&B singer to a humanitarian. Akon who spent most of his childhood in Kaolack, Senegal did so with no electricity. In 2011 roughly 600 million people were living without access to electricity. In 2013 Akon, Thione Niang, and Samba Bathily decided to help drive Africa’s transformation. Thus starting project Akon Lighting Africa; which aims to provide electricity to Africa by Solar energy. It’s good to see a celebrity using their connections and financial gains to impact the world for the better.
