Check Out This Caterpillar That Makes Itself Look Like a Tarantula!

In this fascinating footage captured by David Weiller, in a section of the Amazon Rainforest in Puyo, Ecuador, we see a close-up of the Monkey Slug Caterpillar (Phobetron Hipparchia, Limacodidae).

In an effort to protect itself from predators, the caterpillar, which is the larvae of the hag moth, mimics a hairy tarantula. According to Weiller, when looking at its underside, it looks like a slug with its suction cups prolegs and its tiny legs.
