Ronda Rousey’s Return To The Octagon
We had all but written Ronda Rousey off after her loss to Holly Holm. It seemed like fighting was going to take a permanent backseat to all of her Hollywood obligations. I even bet a friend that she would never return to the octagon again. Well, I have to eat my words.
After nearly a year away from the Octagon, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will be making her highly anticipated UFC return at the UFC’s New Years Eve event on December 30th, UFC 207.
Ronda is set to face Amanda Nunes. Nunes is riding a serious wave coming off a three fight win streak. This is what Dana White had to say about the match up:
“Amanda has been ready to fight whoever we wanted her fight,” White said. “She was ready to defend her title against whoever. And, obviously, you know for somebody like Amanda who beat Miesha Tate. Miesha Tate has been the second best fighter in the world for seven years behind Rousey. Miesha Tate is awesome. She went in and she destroyed Miesha Tate.
“So, for her coming off a fight like that and now having the opportunity to fight Ronda Rousey, huge for Amanda.”
Which Ronda will show up on New Years Eve? The dominant Ronda of yesteryear or has she been exposed and the facade cracked? We will have to wait and see…
