Meet beauty queen Laura Mojica Romero. This Mexican hottie was a member of one of the most violent and notorious local gangs out of Oaxaca. Back in 2019, when Laura was crowned Miss Mexico she was quoted as saying I’m “much more than just a pretty face.” Talk about foreshadowing – Laura was part of a gang of robbers and some consider her the Mexico’s queen of kidnappers.
In 2021, two years after winning a beauty pageant, Laura Romero was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping for ransom. Evidence suggests she was involved in both the planning and the operations themselves. The gang operated in the states of Veracruz and her native Oaxaca. At the same time, 25-year-old Laura twice represented this state at the Miss Mexico contest, which did not prevent her from engaging in criminal activities in between her modeling career.
A gang of 8 people (including Laura) kidnapped people in the countryside. It is not entirely clear for what purpose – only for the sake of ransom, or some of the abducted were also allegedly sold into slavery. This case has been under investigation for quite some time. So Romero posed as a model, not knowing that the police were already watching her.
