Toronto Man Struck By Oncoming Train

Rule of thumb: Don’t try to guide a train into the station.

A man suffered severe head injuries when he was hit by a TTC subway train at Bloor-Yonge Station Friday night.

The man, in his 20s, was on the platform when he was struck by the southbound train around 9:49 p.m. He was rushed to hospital with severe injuries to his head.

Toronto Police and Toronto Transit Commission officials interviewed witnesses and checked surveillance camera footage. Police say the man was leaning too close to the moving train and was sent flying back towards the platform.

Service was suspended at the station for about an hour but full service was resumed on Line 1 and 2 about an hour later.
