Some spider bites can cause a very mild reaction but some can be outright dangerous. Enzymes from the venom of a poisonous spider attack nearby cells and destroy skin, fat and blood vessels around the bite, leading to necrosis. The bite area usually turns dark purple to black in the center, and it starts to look more like a scab or deep bruise.
Such was the case with this woman who was somehow bitten on the tongue by either a Black Widow or a Brown recluses.
